The Center for Housing Education cultivates housing lifestyles for each consumer while they transition along the affordable housing spectrum by tailoring educational opportunities and financial wellness through individual counseling and workshops.


About Us

The Center for Housing Education, a branch of the Danville Redevelopment and Housing Authority, is a US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) approved Housing Counseling Agency. The Center connects with the community to provide programs that promote education and wealth preservation. Our goal is to create educational opportunities that prepare individuals for new challenges as they transition along the affordable housing spectrum, all while instilling the values of property maintenance for community stability and sustainability.

Maya Hairston

Maya Hairston graduated from Averett University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Business Administration. Maya then began her career with DRHA in August of 2019 as Administrative Assistant for the housing education department. During those years she gained extensive knowledge on the home buying prosses and how to assist first time home buyers. Maya took on the role of Resident Program Manager January 2023 with plans to help not only homebuyers but DRHA current residents as well. In her free time, she enjoys being with friends and spending lots of time with her family.

Aquina Adams

Aquina Adams began her journey with DRHA August 5, 2022. She is now an FSS Coordinator. Aquina understands the importance of teamwork and the urgency in putting our residents first. Serving is naturally a part of Aquina’s nature. So, once the opportunity became available for Aquina to further serve our residents, she jumped at the opportunity and has been successful in fulfilling her tasks. She is now attending DCC and will be receiving a associate in business management as well as a degree is Spanish and ASL, for us to be able to reach a broader demographic.
